Search for “KookiOk” in Plugins → Add New, or download the zip from WordPress.org and upload it.

  2. Paste your Domain Group ID

Create a free KookiOk account, copy the ID from your dashboard and click Connect - the plugin checks it on the spot.

What you get

What the plugin does

Built for WordPress, powered by the same free KookiOk platform.

  • Correct placement, automatically

The consent script is injected as the first script in the page head and loads synchronously - the placement compliance checks expect.

  • Built-in installation check

One click fetches your homepage and confirms the script is present, in the head, first and synchronous.

  • Cookie declaration block

Embed an auto-updating cookie table on any page with the Gutenberg block or the [kookiok_cookie_declaration] shortcode.

  • Blocks trackers before consent

Non-essential scripts, pixels and storage stay blocked until the visitor opts in - prior consent by default.

  • On-brand banner design

Seven templates, your brand colour, custom CSS - or describe your brand and let AI draft the banner, then tweak anything.

  • Speaks your visitors’ languages

The banner ships 34 languages; the plugin’s settings screens are translated into English, Czech and Russian.

One dashboard

Not a WordPress-only tool

The same banner runs on any website - a one-line script covers your non-WordPress properties from the same dashboard, with the same consent records and cookie scanner.

FAQ

WordPress plugin FAQ

Do I need a cookie consent plugin for my WordPress site?

If your site uses analytics, advertising or other non-essential cookies - including Google Analytics - the GDPR and ePrivacy rules require consent before those load. A plugin is the easiest way to get that right on WordPress: KookiOk places the consent script first in the page head and blocks trackers until visitors agree.

Can I add cookie consent to WordPress without a plugin?

Yes - KookiOk also installs as a single script tag you paste into your theme or tag manager, no plugin needed. The plugin simply does the placement for you, keeps it correct through theme and plugin changes, and adds the installation check and the declaration block.

Do WordPress cookie consent plugins keep a record of consent?

It depends on the plugin - KookiOk does. Every choice is stored as a tamper-evident record with the categories, the time and an anonymized signal, kept for 5 years and exportable as PDF or JSON if a regulator ever asks.

Does installing a cookie consent plugin guarantee GDPR compliance?

No tool can guarantee compliance on its own. KookiOk gives you the parts GDPR expects - prior-consent blocking, an equally easy Reject all, granular categories and consent records - but compliance also depends on your configuration and what your site does. This is not legal advice.

Is the KookiOk WordPress plugin really free?

Yes. The plugin is free on WordPress.org, and the KookiOk plan behind it is free too - unlimited sites and page-views, no credit card. The banner never stops showing because of a traffic cap.

Do I need a KookiOk account?

Yes - a free one. The plugin connects your site to KookiOk with a Domain Group ID from your dashboard; that ID is the only thing you paste.

Does it work with caching and optimization plugins?

Yes. Just exclude consent.js (cdn.kookiok.com) from any “defer”, “delay” or “combine JavaScript” feature, so the consent script keeps loading first and synchronously.

Will the plugin slow down my WordPress site?

No. It adds a single script tag and stays out of the way - there is no heavy rewriting engine inside WordPress. The consent script itself is about 24 KB gzipped.

What data does the plugin send?

The plugin stores only your Domain Group ID and settings in WordPress options. Your site loads the banner from cdn.kookiok.com, and visitors’ consent choices are recorded via api.kookiok.com - that is the whole integration.

Where is the plugin’s source code?

The plugin is GPL-2.0-or-later and ships its full, human-readable source - you can inspect every line right in the zip from WordPress.org.
